Landmark – Gothic. Review Naudrion: Fall of the Empire

December 25, 2020, a game very interested in me was published in early access. It turned out that this, no less – a serious application for a large single RPG from a third party.

The project is declared for the Windows platform.

In the world of Naudrion, the forces of darkness appeared in the person of a certain Morgaus. Our task is to survive and, ultimately, stop the villain. Four chapters of adventure are promised. So far there is only one.

The gameplay resembles Gothic 1 and 2. Our hero, by Pokka, explores the world. Collects things, tries to the strength of different enemies.

For each increase in level we get 10 development points that can only be spent by coaches. Coaches are very different in specialization, glasses must be spent wise.

There are a lot of equipment in the game, consumed items. After training, a decent amount of skill appears.

There are cooking, alchemy and, most likely, some kind of craft, which I have not reached. At least we get ore, there are skins, ingots.

The game attracts the old -time task for setting tasks, they are described in general terms. The location of quests is determined by orientation on the terrain, no icons and car travels.

You can ride a horse to reduce the time of movement between destination points. You can’t fight from the saddle yet. Although, in theory, such a skill can be somewhere at some coach, it would be nice. What is noteworthy – our hero’s weapon can get out of the position of “riding”.

Technical problems

As usual in early access – there are shortcomings. I will list the most important of them:

– The game is indecent https://nonukcasinosites.co.uk/credit-cards/ for a long time and persists. In a minute, or even more. I have HDD, but, in other games, more resource -intensive in appearance, there is no such problem.

– Terribly poorly recorded by weapons on enemies. It is clear that it works for some formulas, but. A simple blow is fixed with a hit well if one of three, and it happens that in a few seconds. The worst – you can see, physically, weapons hit the enemy, but its strip of lives is not reduced.

– Combat skills work every other time, despite the fact that there seems to be resources for use. This is extremely discouraging. I found out, it was necessary that the enemies be in a certain radius to begin with a “caste” of his skill. As for me, it is better that the player just saw his blow, saw how he works and get used to him. It is very joyless when you press the skill and do not know whether it will work or not.

– The character’s window is buggy. When calling it, we see a black screen and only by pressing the “Character” tab – the character window.

– As for me, you need a more convenient, visual description of objects, skills, filling out quick access buttons.

– I find things with the parameter “Protection”. But according to the description – in the game he is not. There is “armor”. In digital terms, “protection” does not add anything, although it may not be cut off here.

– Kirka appears in his hand with the weapon. Technically does not interfere, but looks like a bug.

– Dug shafts with ore and wrapped chests do not disappear. It would be better to disappear. Otherwise they are only misleading.

– It turns on strange when entering the settlement Music.

– At death, there is no way to load immediately, only through the exit to the main menu.

Consider the pros and cons of the game, let us summarize.

+ Oldskogol graphics. She does not shine with perfection, but causes nostalgic feelings.

+ This is an application for a large single, serious RPG. And not in words, but in fact – a lot has been done. Already deserves respect.

+ The world is huge and harsh. There are many points of interest on the map – the player will have to look for them.

+ Enemies are dangerous, there are many types of them.

+ Quite a lot of weapons, useful consumables.

+ Different types of craft are present

+ Good skill system on paper. It is necessary that it work somehow correctly. But from what I see from descriptions and rare points, when it is possible to apply them – very good.

+ Good Russian localization (while there are small grammatical errors in dialogs).

– Technical flaws described above. There are many of them, but, as for me, if you wish, this can be corrected.

– No magic. So far, at least. In the parameters of the hero there is only power and everything is tied on it.

Very damp, but terribly promising. It is interesting to study the big new world and try to survive in it. I recommend adding the project to the list of desired. If they are polished, there will be very good appropriate.
