The book takes place in the world of Melin, in which people who managed to tie the asses to representatives of other races during the many years of bloody war and made them almost their slaves, but actually the Dan did this, the elves were faded somewhere and are fighting for the survival of their race, the gnomes locked up resources in their caves, they have the right to enter into human cities. exclusively without weapons and with medallions on the neck in the form of Palen with a seal, and goblins and orcs somewhere there on the wild and no one needs the outskirts of the empire of people, they are engaged in robbery and generally unlikely.

Although in the cycle of the “Guardian of Swords”, as I think, it is clear, the priority will shift towards one person, but the chapters on behalf of other characters will not go anywhere and will be no less interesting and exciting.
As you already understood, the work is very long and voluminous, but the constant increase in the scale and epic of what is happening does not give the book you get bored, and you continue to read it with the same interest as in the beginning. In general, starting with one single country, by the end of the “Guardian of Swords”, the action will take place in several full -fledged worlds plus in the Intermier (a kind of cosmos only a forest filled with a magic beast and generally all sorts of different ones), and the ending of the ducks generally amazes with its scale and the number of people involved, including local gods.

The book was written quite high quality, and I didn’t even want to burn the author at the stake, as it was when I read Cruise. The characters are worked out very soundly, and their actions correspond to their character and logic. Perumov is quite justifiably used by various artistic means and does not use the same epithet a hundred times, and the writing style is quite light and pleasant. The description of the scene and characters is made exactly so that you are not tired of reading it, and at the same time a completely understandable and clear picture loom in your head (although it still depends on your imagination, but this is not so important).

I would like to attribute only the presence of some plot turns in style to the disadvantages: “Luke, I am your father.”And in general, because of the wild duration in the relationships of the characters, Santa Barbara begins by the end (no, no one is losing ten times a day there … Well, not ten times for sure), but all this does not go far and monitoring the connection of certain heroes is still interesting, pleasantly and exciting. There is even a completely sane love line and not even one, which undoubtedly gives a fat plus to the book, because this fact is a kind of signal that this work very much claims to be quality.

In conclusion, I would like to say that this book may not be put on a par with the titans of world fantasy, but it deserves attention, and certainly any Russian -speaking lover of literary fantasy should read it. Yes, there are no secret meanings or revelations in it, but not a single book from the section of the science fiction I read, I could offer me this, although I read them quite a few, and they did not set me such goals. Classic fantasy is facing in the best traditions of Tolkien, but not in vain, as I already mentioned above, Perumov is his follower, only our compatriot managed to develop the scale of events to almost unimaginable limits. Moreover, at the same time, the depth of study of the universe was not affected. At least I did not have any questions, and I did not notice the contradictions. As a result, we have a very suitable performance of classical fantasy. In general, we read, gentlemen, we read!
